What a hectic few weeks its been!
This is me, my real name is Maureen (but my nickname is Trouble, thanks to my husband, who has shortened it to 'T' which is now what he calls me) and I own http://www.glitzyglamour.co.uk/
We are a small company in Essex (no shut up!!) I'd love to say we dont speak like that but we do, well I do anyway and so does my sisters and my husband and neighbours and dog (well thats stretching it a bit)!!
I wanted to do a blog so you can follow our journey as we build our company, (I am resisting the urge to put 'hopefully' at the end of the sentence as I am very into the powers of positive thinking. We have just dived into Facebook and twitter too so if you would like to follow us, we would be very welcome to have you.
and would love to hear your comments on our products, service, what you would like to see, what you have trouble finding or anything really!
Its a very hectic time as we are getting ready for Xmas and have been for months, its very hard at the moment for everyone, both people selling and people trying to get the money together to buy, but the most important thing I think (probably not what I should be saying as a retailer!!) is that Xmas is a time for being with the one's you love (if you can be) and enjoying their company. Gifts are a very small part of it, so if you can't afford to buy the things you want to buy dont feel bad about it, Xmas is one day but debts last a lot longer.
We have been trying to search for inexpensive items this year and have found some really great bits which hopefully will help some of our customers, we also have a shop on Ebay where we sell items for as little as £1.99!
As I said earlier we are only a little company and its tough being a very little fish in a massive massive pond a pond which is very overcrowded and has some very big players and sharks.... (I think I am getting carried away with this analogy!).....but with my positive head on I like to see it as a great challenge too.. and although its extremely tough out there for everyone I am looking at the positives and here are some
1) In a lot of ways its so much easier to get your name known as a small fish with social media/internet because you dont need to have a massive advertising budget, you just have to dive into and embrace the new ways of doing things and work very very hard at it.
2) We really want to provide a personal touch, I think thats missing so much in most shops online or high st, nowadays. I dont want to be faceless and I dont want my customers to be either
3) Being a tiny little company I have had to learn so much, whereas when you work for a larger company everyone has a specific role. The things I have learnt in the last few years, when you have to be bothered you are.
4) I am learning just how resilient I am
They say God loves a trier, if thats true he must really love me at the moment!!
I am sure I thought of a lot more positives this morning but its getting later in the day.
Anyway take care everyone and have a nice evening and if you do visit our website, facebook page, twitter account or this and like it please tell your friends and help a little company fight a big global economic mess!!
